Every spring we shear our alpacas. This is not harmful to them in any way; in fact, if alpacas keep their wool during the summer it can be incredibly damaging, as it's similar to wearing a winter coat in the summertime.
In addition to this, alpaca wool is a popular material for clothing such as sweaters and scarves. An alpaca's wool is softest when they're babies! |
