Annual Harvest Festival! This years Harvest Festival took place on October 1st from 2-5. In collaboration with LexFarm, we helped to host a huge farm event with tours, live music, food, drinks and more! Everybody had plenty of fun and we are grateful to all the volunteers that came to help out! If you missed it, no worries! We would love to have you next year! |
While our yearly Harvest Festival was taking place, we had some lovely volunteers help to run a lemonade and baked goods stand!
With everybody's help, we managed to raise a total of 175$ for the Trevor Project! This is an amazing organization who's mission "is to end suicide among LGBTQ young people." |
We have been hosting classes to teach about shearing, cleaning, carding, spinning, and weaving our alpaca wool into materials! Also known as "Sheep to Shawl". On July 17th Kim Goldinger (the owner of SilkFields) taught an adult class at LexFarm which was extremely popular and very fun! Check out our "Coming Up" page to be updated when another class like this happens... |
This summer, SilkFields Farm collaborated with the Lexington Montessori School summer program, Horizons, to teach the kids about farming and how there clothes get made. Not only did we bring the kids to the farm to see all the animals, but we also brought parts of the farm to them! With a very hands-on learning experience associated with the Montessori curriculum, we introduced lots of new concepts and experiences to the students, and had lots of fun in the process! |
